News Update

We did the Tianguis again this last week and it worked out much better. We arrived earlier for a better spot, and from 1198 contacts, we had almost a hundred people sign up for English classes! I love doing Tianguis, I contacted 200 people, but another Elder beat me. Elder Raven (new Elder) contacted 285 people by himself!

This week I'd like to share about service. I've really been able to notice a difference between people who worry about themselves, and those who worry about others. It's very obvious that those who are more worried about others always have a smile on their faces, and are well better off. But those who are only worried for themselves seem to have more challenges in life.

It's when we sacrifice and serve others that make us so much happier. Every time I see or hear of someone sacrificing for the good, it fills my heart full of joy and I want to encourage them to keep going! I hope we can all reflect a little on our own lives and see where we can improve, we can all help out a little more!

Tianguis Round 2! HAPPY...[Thanksgiving]

Elder Garcia
November 20, 2017

This time we organized a stand in the tianguis in our zone. We arrived at 7 in the morning to get a good spot, and we set up a canopy with President's TV, a bunch of materials, and offering English clases. We were about 10-12 missionaries, and within 5 hours, we contacted 918 people, gave out 27 Books of Mormon, and had 32 people register for English clases. It was great! We're planning on doing it next Saturday as well, it's the most productive we can be with time on a Saturday.
In the week, we also did 2 divisions. I was with Elder Garcia and Elder Howell, they're both great missionaries and really care about the needs of the people. They've got strong testimonies of the góspel of Jesus Christ. It's true!
This change is flying by so fast, every new change goes faster than the last one. We're already a third way through. Right now we have a potential house to rent for English clases, we'll see what turns out this week if the government will rent it for us, which would be so awesome. Everything is going well, I hope you all have a great week!

Elder Russon

Una Buena Semana!

This week we went to the government offices asking for a place we could give English classes for free. At first they didn't know anything, but we left our phone number for them to call us. Literally five minutes after leaving, they called us and wanted us to look for 3 houses to rent and present them to them. They want to rent us a house and provide chairs, white board, etc. So we can give English classes! I was so surprised but we're super pumped. But it's been a tad bit hard to find a house in rent here, but we're determined! Hopefully it will be a great way to find new investigators.

On Saturday, we had a baptism of Alex Hernandez. He's 10 and he's a great kid. He was ready to be baptized along with his 8 year old sister! Also, on Sunday after they were confirmed the Holy Ghost by their Dad, Manuel was ordained a Priest and given the Priesthood! It was also our first Sunday in the newly remodeled chapel. The very first chapel I attended arriving to the misión, it was expanded and updated a lot!

We're excited for Mario, a super great investigator we recently found from a member reference. After a week, he's already reading in 2 Nephi, and he's come to church already two times, which he loves. He's excited to be baptized for December 16th, and he needs to get married, but we already have plans for that and he's excited. It's awesome to get to know people like that. He also speaks perfect English 'cuz he was born in the U.S. and lived there several years.

Elder Pinos

P-day fun - Lazer tag!
This week we had a conference with Elder Pinos from the seventy. It went very well, he taught several different things. More than anything, I liked what he said about our missionary calling, that were representatives of Jesus Christ and we have a serious responsibility to fullfil our calling and purpose, to invite others to come unto Christ and be baptized.

We found an awesome new investigator this week, Mario. He’s a well established and intelligent guy who lives with his girlfriend. He received us very well and accepted all that we taught him. He’s actually already gone to church with his recent convert friend and loved it. He even told us he wants to be baptized one day, super awesome!

I can’t believe that this change has already come and gone, it feels like yesterday that it started. Now Elder Morales and I are starting a second change together, were trying to figure out how to get along better, its hard sometimes.

Sorry, no pics for now, I'm having a slight problem with my pictures. For next week!

Love,

Elder Russon
